Privacy policy

The short version

We collect what we need to quote and run your delivery, and nothing else. We do not sell it, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not add you to a mailing list. If you want your information removed, email us and we will remove it.

Who we are

What we collect when you request a quote

The quote form asks for your name, phone number and email address, an optional company name, the type of service, the pickup and delivery locations, when the shipment needs to arrive, and any details you choose to add. Everything on that form is information you type deliberately.

Alongside it we record which page the form was submitted from, and an anonymous analytics identifier (described below) so we can tell which parts of the site generate enquiries. The form also contains a hidden field that only automated spam submissions fill in; if it is completed, the submission is discarded.

What we do with it

Two things. Your request is saved to our database so we have a durable record of the job, and it is emailed to us so a person sees it and responds. That is the whole workflow.

We use your contact details to quote your delivery, to coordinate the pickup and drop, and to send proof of delivery. We may contact you afterwards about that specific job — an invoice, a return leg, a document you asked for. We do not send marketing email, and there is no mailing list to be added to.

Analytics and cookies

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and understand which pages lead to enquiries. It sets cookies in your browser containing a randomly generated identifier. That identifier is not your name and we cannot use it to look you up, but it does allow us to see that a visit and a later quote request came from the same browser.

Google processes this data on our behalf and under its own terms. If you would rather not be counted, browser privacy settings or Google's own opt-out browser add-on will prevent it, and nothing on this site stops working as a result.

We do not run advertising pixels, retargeting tags, social media trackers or third-party marketing scripts of any kind.

Other parties involved

Keeping a website online involves a small number of service providers, and it is only honest to name them.

• Vercel hosts the site and, like any web host, records standard server request logs including IP addresses.
• MongoDB Atlas stores quote requests.
• Google provides the analytics described above, and serves the typeface used on this site — which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers when a page loads.
• Our email provider carries the notification of your quote request to us, and any correspondence between us afterwards.

These are processors handling data so that the service works. None of them receive your information for their own marketing purposes, and we do not sell or trade personal information to anyone.

How long we keep it

Quote requests and job records are kept for as long as we have an active or reasonably foreseeable relationship with you, and afterwards for as long as we need them for accounting, insurance and legal records. Proof-of-delivery records for high-value and legal shipments are kept longer than routine ones, because that is precisely what they exist for.

If you ask us to delete your information we will do so, except where we are required to retain a record for tax or legal reasons — and we will tell you if that applies.

Your choices

Email daniel@ornalogistics.com and you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, or delete it. We will respond within a reasonable time and we will not ask you why.

You do not need an account to use this site and we do not create one for you.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, quote submissions are transmitted encrypted, and access to the stored records is limited to the people who run the business. No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise, but we do not hold payment card details or government identifiers on this site, which removes the most sensitive categories from the picture entirely.

Children

This is a commercial freight service. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes to how we use information will be described rather than quietly folded in.
