Orna Logistics carries them one consignment at a time, in a dedicated Sprinter, with a single driver who signs for it at pickup and hands it over at delivery.
Why high-value work does not belong in a freight network
A parcel or LTL network is engineered for throughput. Your shipment is sorted, cross-docked, stacked, re-scanned and passed between drivers, and every one of those touches is a point where a corner gets crushed, a crate gets inverted, or a piece simply stops being where the system says it is.
Dedicated transport removes all of it. The consignment is loaded once, at your location, into a van carrying nothing else, and it is unloaded once, at the destination, by the same person who loaded it. There is no terminal to sit in overnight and no forklift anywhere near it.
That is why the specialist standard in high-value logistics is exclusive use plus an unbroken chain of custody — and why insurers, consignors and auction houses ask for both. It is not a premium tier for us. It is the only way we run this service.
Chain of custody you can hand to an insurer
We photograph the piece or its crate at pickup, record the time and the name of the person releasing it, and repeat that at the delivery. One driver holds custody the entire way, so the log has no handoff gaps to explain.
You get the complete record the same day — timestamps, names and images — in a form you can drop straight into a consignment file, a condition report or a claim. For fair and exhibition work we can coordinate directly with your registrar or install crew so paperwork matches what actually happened on the dock.
Equipment sized for real artwork
Most damage to art in transit happens because the vehicle was too small and the piece got tipped, angled or laid flat to make it fit. The Sprinter 170″ Extended High Roof is the answer to that: up to 533 cu ft, a maximum load length near 15 ft 9 in, and interior standing height around 79 in.
Tall crates and large canvases ride upright. Sculpture and pedestals stand. The driver works inside the van, on moving blankets, instead of maneuvering your piece on hot asphalt. Everything is blanket-wrapped, padded and soft-tied against a wall or E-track before the doors close.
The cargo area is fully enclosed, hard-sided and locked. Nothing is visible from outside the vehicle, and nothing sits in Florida sun or a summer downpour, because we drive it direct.

Why direct matters here more than anywhere. Florida heat and humidity are the worst conditions in the country for cardboard. Cards warp, sealed wrap sweats and corners soften, and an afternoon spent on a sorting dock or a sun-baked porch is how a mint copy quietly stops being mint. On a dedicated run the product goes from your climate-controlled space into an enclosed, locked van and straight out again at the destination — one drive, no depot, no unattended stops, and an unmarked vehicle that does not advertise what is inside it.

Questions we get about this service
Is my artwork ever loaded with other customers' freight?
No. This is a dedicated, exclusive-use service. Your consignment is the only thing in the van from pickup to delivery. Co-loading is where high-value shipments get damaged, delayed and mixed up, so we do not do it — even when the van is running half empty.
How do you document condition and custody?
We photograph the piece or crate at pickup and again at delivery, log the time and the name of whoever released and received it, and send you the whole record the same day. One driver handles the job start to finish, so the custody chain has no gaps in it. That documentation is what an insurer or a consignor will ask for if a claim is ever raised.
Can you take an uncrated or oversized piece?
Usually, yes. The Sprinter 170″ Extended High Roof gives us up to 533 cubic feet, roughly 15 ft 9 in of load length and about 79 in of interior height, so most large canvases, framed works, sculpture, pedestals and vitrines travel upright and flat rather than tipped on a corner. Do you handle Art Basel, art fair and exhibition deadlines?
Yes. Fair week, install windows and de-install windows are the hardest deadlines in this business, and they are exactly the ones a hub-and-spoke network misses. We book the vehicle to your load-in slot and hold it for you, so you are not competing with someone else's route.
What else besides paintings and sculpture?
Watches and jewelry, numismatics and bullion consignments, sports cards and graded collectibles, rare books and manuscripts, wine collections, designer furniture, musical instruments, film and photography equipment, prototypes and anything else where the replacement cost or the irreplaceability makes a parcel network the wrong answer.
Can you deliver to a private residence or a gallery install?
Yes. Residential deliveries to collectors, second homes and seasonal residences are routine, as are gallery, museum, art-fair and designer-showroom drops. Tell us about stairs, elevators, dock access or a loading-zone permit when you book so the arrival goes cleanly.
